new date... & I need* your help!!!

So, I have a new date for you all! - Saturday, December 11 - But this one is going to be different from the rest and I'll share why and how...

Mark it down first... Got it?? okay, thanks! :)

Elisabeth has a playday/rodeo scheduled for her riding students on the evening of Saturday, December 11. This is similar to the rodeos we had this summer... only we're hoping it'll be a little better. More family games, different patterns, hot food concessions...

And then we decided to make it into an afternoon and have a family festival as a fundraiser for the camp. For a solid couple of hours, we'll be having a moonwalk, face painting, hayrides, pony rides, bobbing for apples, craft table, needle in the haystack, cookie decorating, bake off.... and food concessions.

BUT, We are going to major need your help!! We need volunteers to help set up and staff all these activities. Please let me know if you're available.... If you can come, we'll open with a devotion, donuts, juice and coffee at 9:00am, then get to work setting up for everything. There will be plenty to do, but "many hands make light work"!! We'll break for a quick lunch around 12:30, then make sure everything is complete before heading to our stations. Guests will start arriving around 2:00. The Festival goes until 5:30 and Rodeo starts at 6:00 until 8:00 or so.

Please say you can come....

I'll post more specifics later. Right now, I've got to get the word out..

Lata!

Recap & New Dates

Okay, for those of you who didn't come last Saturday... you so missed out! 10 of us got together and had an absolute blast! We had 7 girls working on finishing the bleachers and 3 guys helping Dad with preparing the wagon with siderails and benches. I was impressed with the amount of work done. :) Dad mentioned something about a "secret recipe" with his burger grilling. He must have done *something* for sure, cause they were amazing! And Rosemary... those lemon bars!! My goodness were those yummy! - as was the potato salad! Thank you *everyone* for bringing something to share, it helped out a great deal!! After dark we played a very daring game of "Kick the Can"... fun times!! So far I've heard stories of Abby faceplanting in a spider web and I have a great memory of sneaking around the truck bed and coming face-to-face with Alex whose reaction I'll always remember. ;) (love you Alex) I loved our discussion time during Bible Study. You guys have so much to share and I enjoy hearing your hearts! I really pray that these get-togethers will be a time of encouragement to you and a time to fan that spark of passion for Christ within you so that you *can* be encouraged to go out and share Him. Remember - we can never be more the body of Christ than when we are among the broken... loving, serving, giving. That's what you are called to do!

Okay, Elisabeth wanted me to announce 2 dates to you... October 23 and October 30. She's planning an all-day work day to get some arena lights put in. (YAY!! - it's been a long time coming and she's so ready. :) Both days will start with the coffee-pot brewing around 8:00, and I'll have nom-noms and juice out for you. ;) We'll start work around 9:00 and go until mid(ish)-afternoon with lunch in between.

I know what you're thinking... Yes, on October 23, we will have also our next get-together. You are invited to come and start with us at 9, in fact we'd love it if you would! And then our regular discipleship/fellowship schedule will start at around 1:00. Everyone come and bring your friends!! We'll work another couple or 3 hours to start, then have fellowship time, supper, Bible Study and a game or praise jam. We'll provide lunch as part of the work day, but supper will be another bring-something-to-help dinner. I'll share more later.

Love you guys!!

it's a go!

So it looks like a go! :) I'm glad yall are enthused about it, I'm going to try to make this a great time of fellowship, encouragement and learning for all of us!! :)

I have two dates for you to put down on your calendars...

SEPTEMBER 25
OCTOBER 23

For our September time, grab lunch on your way out and we'll meet here at the camp around 12:30 or 1:00 and we'll do our thing as I posted earlier.

For supper, I'll get dad to throw some burger patties on the grill and I'll make lemonade and tea. Then we'll need you guys to chime in with... burger buns, a couple bags of chips, veggies (lettuce, tomatos, onion), cookies - or something sweet, and anything else you think might go. As the time gets closer, just choose one and post a comment with what you can bring. We'll all be able to see what's covered and what else we need.

my idea...

Welcome to the Camp Staff blog! I know we have facebook... but I thought this could be a good way to keep up with you all, have discussions and open invitations to several things...

Mom and I were talking last night... I feel like we all got super close this summer and I want a way to keep the relationships we built up. I really would like a way for all of us to encourage and pray for one another throughout the school year and I want for us all to continue to grow.

Sooo.. we came up with a monthly Fellowship/Bible Study/Work Day idea and I want to know what you think.

The idea is to start by working an hour or two on a project that needs to be completed here at camp to keep the camp growing - working toward next summer; have a time of Bible Study & prayer time, eat together and then play a game or two.

In order to keep everything cost free... for you and for us, I'd ask you to each bring something... kinda potluck style for our meal. i.e... chips, drinks, cookies... around whatever our theme happens to be. - that's another way this blog would come in. It'd become a place to give yall new dates and where yall could chime in with what you're bringing so we could get it all covered.

So, I want to know what you think! Would this be something you'd be interested in?
